Practice Setting
I work in a fast-paced Federally Qualified Health Center as an ARNP providing primary care to individuals who are undocumented, without insurance, or otherwise underserved. A small portion of my practice is same-day, acute care visits as well. Common conditions treated include diabetes, hypertension, thyroid issues, well women exams, physicals, chronic pain, anxiety and depression.
Preceptorship Description
My hours are M, W,Th, and Fr 8-5pm and Tuesday 1-5pm. Typically we are unable to provide a student with EHR access but I always try to allow students the opportunity to document and review charts when time permits. As the student becomes more comfortable, I will also allow him/her to do full exams and see patients on their own if desired. We have a variety of providers who are always willing to have a student for a day or two, so consider spending time with our substance use MD, pediatrician, internal medicine providers, midwives, or psych NP.
